Marriage license, candles and two more weeks? Oh my!

Obtaining a marriage license in Marion Cty wasn't difficult at all. I thought it might have been a little more complex. Getting the license is a big step when getting married and yet it only takes about ten minutes. We went to the City County Bldg downtown Indianapolis with the $18 in hand. We went up to the counter and stated that we were applying for a marriage license. The attendant looked at our driver's licenses, verified our addresses and explained the details. In Indiana, the license is good for 60 days so you don't want to get it too early. When reading all the bridal books, they usually list things that you might need like a blood test, a physical examination, AIDS test, etc. We didn't need to do any of that. We still will just for our information but it wasn't required. We filled out our information (birthdays, addresses, personal information). She then has us raise our right hands to solemnly swear that we are ready, not mentally insane, not drunk or high or sick or something like that. Just kidding but after it was all said and done, she took the money, gave me information about changing my name and information for my SSN and congratulated our marriage. That was it. In and out in ten minutes and now we are legal to marry...for at least seven more weeks.

I definitely wanted to have lit candles at the wedding. Candles at home create a wonderful feeling so I wanted the same. At first I found light blue candles at Wal-mart. You can get votive candles in different colors for 50 cents a piece. I also found some brown votive candles that smell like vanilla. I bought them and looked at the table set up and just wasn't feeling it. Brides---if you're not feeling it, don't keep it. You want to feel good about the day. What I didn't like was that light blue candles didn't match the blue that I have. Tiffany blue and I have been fighting for about year now. The girl is so hard to find and I can't stand it. I couldn't find Tiffany blue candles anywhere. So I searched online and found votive white candles. I could get 72 candles that stay lit for 10 hours unscented for $26. I decided to go with that instead of the blue and brown candles. Although vanilla is a comforting smell, it might be overwhelming for the elders. Besides, all of the linens will be white so it'll match.

Two weeks from tomorrow, I'll be married. Need I say more? Well maybe something....{insert Charlie Brown scream}
