Name change is finally complete

Ladies, if you were born overseas and you're getting married, PLEASE make sure you know where your birth certificate is or make the moves to order a new order. In about 8 days, husband and I will be reaching ten months. I am now officially Mrs. Grube. I was born in Seoul Korea (military kid) and before we got married, my family and I had literally no idea where my BC was. I've moved five times and there was no telling where it could. We got married and I sent my letter to get a copy of BC along $50(!) in May or June. Last month, my father just happened to have found my original BC. I went to the SSN office last week (that didn't cost anything by the way) and yesterday, I received my updated SSN card with my new last name. I STILL haven't received the copy of the BC from the government. (I want my $50 back if you're reading this!) So it is official. I can finally change my driver's license and bank cards. I was thinking about yesterday I haven't really been addressed out loud by my new last name. I've written it, said my husband but not like someone calling me. Couple of months ago, I was a chaperone for a kindergarten trip for my sister in law. My mother in law was also there. When someone said "Mrs. Grube...." all three of us turned around. How funny.

P.S. I will be honest and say it was a bittersweet moment for me but it is a new beginning officially with the new last name. :)
