I hate moving but.....
Our next big task is moving. Lease is up this summer and both of us don't want to stay in our current neighborhood. We've been looking at different places through magazines and trying to figure out the budget and what we can and can't do. Downtown Indianapolis has a studio for $1047? Are we in California? No. That is crazy. I told my husband we could get that but we would never see each other and would work 4 jobs a piece. It's crazy now trying to move because there's so much to think about. It's not just me moving. When I moved into my first apartment, family and friends were looking at me like I was crazy. The location wasn't great at all. I loved it at first because it felt like Spanish Harlem to me. Residents had so much pride in their culture. They were playing music out side their balconies and dancing in the quads. I loved it. After awhile though, the gun shots, burglary (in my place), police coming in there every day....that got old quick. I loved my second apartment. It fit me like a glove. It was a one bedroom loft townhome with the circular staircase and the bar at the kitchen. I had decorated like a 1920s brownstone in Harlem during the Renaissance with paintings and music and colors. I loved it. When we move, though, we have to worry about our finances, location for not only us but if we start family planning, we have to think about space, location and who is in the neighborhood and education around the area. If we find a house (which is what we really want-to rent a home), there's thousand and one questions to think about. When we want to buy a house, it'll be a thousand to the third power of questions and answers to figure out. I'm not complaining. I'm up for the challenge but wow. Marriage is definitely a joint effort for everything. It can't be one sided with decisions which is something I'm working on. Even with food does a husband and wife have to compromise! If I want some sushi and he wants pizza, we have to find a common ground. And no, we will not get pizza with anchovies. That's not happening at our house. :)
