This is my official wedding blog. Once Ian and I started wedding planning, I had seen several women make a wedding planning blog and thought that was a good idea. For a couple reasons; mainly because their blogs helped me the most with ideas and thoughts about how this should look and how that should look. Word of mouth and personal experience has always seemed to help me more than anything else. So for the brides that are like myself-the ones who didn’t plan on getting married, the ones who didn’t have a picture perfect dream about their wedding growing up, the ones who was not prepared (like me) for the whirlwind of wedding planning, I am writing this blog for you. As I go through all of my ups and downs, highs and lows, changes, and moments, I will try to update quickly and honestly. Brace yourself! This is going to be an interesting ride.
Let me, now, introduce myself. I’m Cassandra, 27 year old living in Indianapolis IN and learning more and more about myself everyday. I met Ian at where we both were working at the time. Yes ladies—I broke that first rule: No dating at the workplace! Well, that first date has now led us to planning our wedding. We’ve been pre-planning for the last six, seven months. He proposed on March 20 and ever since then, it’s been a crazy time looking at ceremony/reception halls to colors to long talks about the guest list, food and music. One thing that has been an outgoing topic is making sure everybody is somewhat happy. I worry about this a little bit because I’m in an interracial couple (I’m black and he’s white) and that just brings the differences of music, food and dancing. So I will have entries about that as well. That was one thing I really couldn’t find; blogs from black women getting married to white men or black women just married to white men and how’s it been. I’ve only been able to find one and she’s been very helpful. Miss LocalOrganic on Youtube has been helped out quite a bit. So now that I’ve been introduced…it’s time to get down to business. Happy wedding planning, ladies (and gents for that matter!)
